A liquor store owner and a suspect were both wounded after exchanging gunfire in an attempted store robbery Monday night.

Pulaski County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a shooting at 145th Street Liquor in Little Rock just after 9:00 p.m. One man was found on the ground behind the counter with a gunshot wound to the head, and another man was in the back room of the store with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Police say cash was strewn on the counter and in the floor behind the counter. A small caliber black revolver was recovered.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the 76-year-old store owner, Charles Tatum of Little Rock, and the 23-year-old robbery suspect, Jodeci Allen of North Little Rock, exchanged gunfire with each other during the robbery attempt.

Both Tatum and Allen were taken to a local hospital and are in critical but non-life threatening condition.

Allen faces a minimum charge of Aggravated Robbery with possible additional charges pending further investigation.
