Police: Dog found with fireworks was not injured by explosives

CENTERTON (KATV) - Centerton police have determined the dog found with fireworks duct taped to its body was not injured by explosives.

Tinkerbelle became known as Moxy after she was found by a stranger. She had empty tubes used to shoot off fireworks dragging behind her by a piece of duct tape.

Police do not know how the duct tape and fireworks got on the dog, but believe it was not put there intentionally.

Tinkerbelle's owner told police her injuries happened over a period of time due to the dog repeatedly digging and crawling under a wooden fence.

The owner was cited for failure to seek medical attention for the dog, canine running at large, and failure to register the canine with the city.

Tinkerbelle will remain in the care of the Centerton Animal Shelter until court proceedings are finished.
