CONWAY (KATV) -

The University of Central Arkansas is testing the waters, seeing if businesses will be interested in locating in possible new space at the University’s development of “Donaghey Corridor”.

President Tom Courtway says it’s important that UCA gather interest on a possible development, so it’s board of trustees can decide if the project will go forward.

The mixed-use development complex would be built along Donaghey Avenue, with the first phase to be a two block area from South Boulevard to Martin Street.

The university says the preferred usage for the ground level of the complex would be for restaurants, specialty boutiques, pharmacies/general merchandise, office/banking and coffee shop/café. Residence halls would fill the upper levels.

The architectural firm helping UCA come up with a plan for the development, Polk Stanley Wilcox of Little Rock, has included a plan for phase two which would add up to three more complexes.

Courtway said, "We believe it is very important at this time to gauge the level of interest in the commercial/retail part of the proposed development."
