Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Investigator involved in early morning shooting

UPDATE: The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said, EMS transported Jones to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery. Jones has been released from surgery and admitted into the hospital's intensive care unit, where he is said to be in stable condition.

Pine Bluff, Ark- A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Investigator is on paid administrative leave following a deputy-involved shooting that occurred in the area of Rhinehart Road and West Pullen Street in the city of Pine Bluff.

Authorities said the shooting happened in the parking lot of Swan's Bar and Lounge at approximately 3:26 AM Saturday.

Patrol officers from the Pine Bluff Police Department were dispatched to the city’s north side in reference to the report of a shooting. 

Upon arrival, officer’s located Dedric Jones (36), who had suffered a single gunshot to the chest. 

The name of the officer who shot Jones wasn't released by Jefferson County Authorities today, nor any information on if the officer used a personal gun or one the department issued him.

Authorities said the officer works with the drug task force as a criminal investigator.

Part of the shooting investigation will look into if the officer was at the night club or on personal time following up on a case.

The investigation is ongoing and the deputy involved will remain on administrative leave with pay, pending the findings in this case.
