(KATV)-The Faulkner Country Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide from Saturday night.
Jermaine Harris Tyus, 34, of Conway was found shot in the head on a road near Lake Conway.
When police arrived Tyus was still breathing and was sent via medflight to UAMS where he later died. The investigation hit a wall at first because the victim could not be identified.
"The victim didn't have any identification on him or really anything for that matter. So were having kind of a hard time identifying him so didn't really know to go from there," said Faulkner County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Matt Rice.
Without knowing who the victim was, it difficult to form any leads, police say. Tyus' body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab, where he was later identified through finger print records.
Neighbors say they're shocked to have a homicide in this quiet lake side neighborhood.
"I live right there. Having somebody leave a dead body out here..it's sad and scary," said neighbor Lilley Kelly.
Police say now that they know who he is his, family and friends are being questioned for any leads as they race against the clock to find a suspect.
"The more time that goes on, the more time people get away, the more people come up with things and people get rid of evidence and other things like that, so we really want to get as much information and get our hands on these people as soon as possible," Rice said.
If you have any information on this case, you're asked to call the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office.
"Investigators are following up leads now, they're talking to family members, talking to friends, family. Whoever they can talk to at this point, basically they're just following up on some leads now. We don't have a whole lot to go on, but we will," Rice said.
