Seniors and baby animals

Posted: Updated:
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Research has shown that seniors benefit emotionally when they interact with pets.

So Home Helpers teamed up with Andover Place to bring an entire petting zoo to the Little Rock independent living facility.

Thirteen different animals arrived, including piglets, a llama, and even a kangaroo.

Residents of the facility and their grandchildren got to feed, pet, and brush the animals.

"Well, this is a beautiful interruption in our routine, and the children love it and the elderly love it...and I held the little kangaroo and that was an exciting experience," Andover Place resident Joe Briscoe said.

The petting zoo was provided by Cockrills Country Critters.
