NBA player from Arkansas arrested at Little Rock skating rink

Posted: Updated:
(KATV)-Rookie NBA player Archie Goodwin, who plays for the Phoenix Suns was arrested in Little Rock last week for disorderly conduct and refusal to submit to arrest.

Goodwin is from Sherwood and played for Sylvan Hills High School. He was drafted by the Suns last year.

According to the police report, the Arkansas State Police was called to the scene at the Arkansas Skatium on Bowman Road, to a fight in progress involving weapons. The officer reported that he saw Goodwin exit the building in an "aggressive manner, using profanity and making aggressive gestures to another individual."

The officer reported he told Goodwin to stop cursing twice, but he continued. The officer says he grabbed Goodwin by the top of his pants, that's when the officer says Goodwin tried to get away from him. A scuffle ensued and Goodwin tried to break free as the officer took him to the ground. Goodwin was later treated at the scene for injuries he sustained during the arrest.

A spokesperson for the Arkansas State Police said they will not be releasing the dash camera video as it's an ongoing investigation.

Pictures from Goodwin's Instagram account and Twitter show Goodwin had been speaking to students at Sylvan Hills elementary and middle schools and kids at the Little Rock Air Force Base earlier in the week.

A spokesperson for the Phoenix Suns told Channel 7 News they had no comment. According to other NBA player arrests in the recent past, the NBA waits for the legal process to play out before issuing any punishment. Goodwin is in court June 3rd in Sherwood.
