Volunteers build home for Saline County family for Women Build Week

SALINE COUNTY (KATV) -
Local volunteers joined women across the state Saturday to build affordable housing in nearby communities.

Staff from the Children's Network Child Care and volunteers from Lowe's partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for one Saline County family in recognition of national Women Build Week.

This program challenges women to devote at least one day to help build affordable housing in their communities.

"We hold clinics at Lowe's throughout the year, we just did one on Thursday that was a paint and trim clinic that helped them today," said Lauren Warren with Habitat for Humanity. "We like to educate and empower women so they can advocate change in poverty housing in their communities."

This is the seventh year for the event.
