Air Force captain indicted on child porn charges

Posted: Updated:
Jacksonville (KATV) – An Air force Captain based at the Little Rock Air Force Base is being indicted on federal child pornography charges.

Wednesday, Shane Padilla was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of distribution and one count of possession of child pornography.

On Friday April 4th, the 30-year-old Air Force Captain was arrested on a criminal complaint. After a bail hearing the next Tuesday, Padilla was released from custody on the condition that he gives up his passport and pilot’s license.

He’s also on house arrest. Padilla isn’t allowed internet access or to have any contact with minors.

A homeland security investigation was notified that Padilla had received child pornography on his email account. Investigators say they found numerous emails of minors engaged in sexually explicit acts.

The U.S. Air Force conduction their own investigation and reportedly found over a thousand images and a hundred video depicting child porn.

Tre Kitchens of the Brad Hendricks Law Firm Says that Padilla could face 5-20 years in prison, and his military rank won’t help him in court.

“This is someone who’s supposed to protect our country.” Says Kitchens, “If he is guilty, which we assume he’s not, but if he is, he’s betrayed the trust of a nation.”
