Photo recovery efforts underway in Ark., Okla.

Posted: Updated:

VILONIA, Ark. (AP) - A national nonprofit organization that works to reunite people with their photos following disasters is focusing on communities hard hit by recent tornadoes.

The National Disaster Photo Rescue is reaching out to people in the communities of Vilonia and Mayflower, Ark.; Quapaw, Okla.; and Baxter Springs, Kan.; to try to help collect, document and reunite people with their personal photographs free of charge. More than a dozen people were killed and homes and businesses destroyed when tornadoes tore through the communities earlier this week.

The organization is looking for community drop-off locations and groups interested in helping with the effort.
