Andrea Davis surrenders to sheriff's office

Posted: Updated:

Hot Springs attorney Andrea Davis turned herself into the Garland County Sheriff's Office Thursday morning. Davis is charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of Maxwell Anderson. The death happened more than two years ago.

A special prosecutor from Saline County has been assigned to the case. Deputy Prosecutor Bryan Clary said his office was  given the case in December and worked through the evidence as quickly as possible. Clary would not give details as to what caused delays before the case was handed over to him, only saying that the reason would come out in court proceedings.

Davis's first court appearance will be Friday morning in Garland County. In addition to the manslaughter charge, Davis is also accused of felony use of a communication device, for allegedly coordinating drug transactions with the victim, Anderson, plus residential burglary and theft of property in relation to the theft of two handguns and a shotgun from a home about January 2nd of this year. Authorities tied her to that crime after her DNA was discovered on a cigarette butt at the crime scene..

Prior to turning herself into authorities, Davis posted the following message on her Facebook wall: "The only way out is through. It's all going to be ok. The powers that be are hell bent on putting me in jail and that's ok. I believe in our system. I could use your prayers and tomorrow I will turn myself in... And hopefully the end of the madness is near. It will get worse before better so please don't believe all you hear. I have heard nasty accusations. But my head is high. It has to be for my boys."

Davis's brother, Matthew Davis is also wanted on a manslaughter charge. He could turn himself in as early as Thursday evening.
