Mike Anderson Told Us About Year Three

Posted: Updated:

Wednesday night, I was pain free for a little over two hours.

On Monday morning, I made a rookie mistake.  I got too confident on the ice.  I was walking back from the grocery store, when it happened.  I wish we had the fall on video, because it would be a good learning tool.  My feet went up in the air in front of me, and my back slammed into the ice.  The fall knocked the air out of me , and left me gasping for air.  I got lucky !!! I could have broken an arm or hit my head.  I was left with a very sore back.

I discovered the best medicine for my back wasn't heat, ice or medication.

It turned out to be only a temporary fix, but two hours of the " Fastest 40 Minutes Of Basketball" can do wonders for back pain.

It was 30 minutes of steals, great passes, dunks and three pointers... 17 of them. I say 30 minutes, because Coach Anderson called off his Hogs with about 10 minutes to go.

It was an internet infomercial for the WE HOGS.

The final stats are wild. No Hog played more than 21 minutes, and 11 Hogs played at least 11 minutes.

They had 27 assists on 37 made buckets.  The "We Hogs" also finished with 12 steals and turned the ball over only 6 times.  They hit 17 of 30 three pointers, and went 19 of 20 from the free throw line.

Was that Al Dilliard or Anthlon Bell ?  Bell broke this one wide open in the first half, when he scored 14 points in a span of 3 minutes.  He ended up with 23 points in only 12 minutes of court time.

Senior Madracus Wade saved one of his best performances as a Hog for senior night.  Wade  finished with 18 points in 18 minutes of action.  He was 6 of 8 from the floor, including 5 of 7 from three point land.  He also had 3 assists and 2 rebounds.

The ultimate "We Hogs" performance was turned in by Bobby Portis , who scored only 4 points and attempted only 4 shots.  Portis finished with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocked shots.

The Hogs have gone from 2-6 in SEC Play to 10-7. They are currently riding a six game winning streak.

We should have known it was coming, because Mike Anderson has been telling us all season that special things happen in season three.  They happened when he was at UAB and Missouri, and now they are happening in Fayetteville.

I'm writing this with an ice pack on my pack.  The pain returned a few hours after the Hogs put the finishing touches on the Rebels.
