Sen. Mark Pryor Files for Race

Posted: Updated:

Senator Mark Pryor filed Friday to once again run for the U.S. Senate. His opponent, Rep. Tom Cotton, filed Monday.

The official announcement firms up the field in what many political analysts consider one of the most important races in the country when it comes to control of the U.S. Senate.

"This race is really about the people around the state and what kind of senator they want to see in a senator in Washington. I've worked very hard over the past 11 years to be that kind of senator, and I'm very comfortable if that's what they want, they'll send me back for another six years," said. Sen. Pryor.

The filing period ends Monday at noon. Right now in the senate race, it's Republican Rep. Tom Cotton, Liberation Nathan LaFrance, Green Party candidate Mark Swaney and Sen. Mark Pryor for the Democrats.
