Woman dies after attack at El Dorado home

Posted: Updated:

EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say El Dorado police shot and wounded a man while investigating an attack on a 28-year-old woman.

El Dorado police Capt. Kevin Holt says officers responded to a home Saturday night on reports that a woman had been injured. Once there, officers discovered 28-year-old Lavecchia Dixon suffering from multiple wounds. Dixon was taken to a local hospital then airlifted to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where she later died.

Holt says police responding to the home encountered 25-year-old Rashad Morgan. According to Holt, Morgan allegedly pointed a gun at officers and police opened fire on him. Morgan is in critical condition at an El Dorado hospital.

Holt tells the El Dorado News Times (http://bit.ly/OtBI0h ) that authorities are awaiting an official cause of death for Dixon.
