Star City football player Zack Towers dies

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) – Former Star City football player Zack Towers died Wednesday morning.

Zack Towers suffered a serious head injury while playing football in November of 2012 that put him in a coma for several months. Easter Seals officials say Towers passed away at a local hospital.

No additional details regarding his death have been released at this time.

Towers' brother, Ty Towers, made the following post on Twitter shortly after 7:30 a.m.:

I now have a guardian angel. Watch over me brother. I Love you more than words can ever say.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, February 21. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Both will be at the First Baptist Church of Star City.
