Mail fraud added to Martha Shoffner's charges

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Former state treasurer Martha Shoffner has been slapped with ten counts of mail fraud by a federal grand jury.

She is accused of spending thousands of dollars from her re-election campaign on clothing, cosmetics and other personal expenses.

These charges stem from an investigation by an FBI task force.

Shoffner was arrested back in may after she was caught on tape accepting a $6,000 dollar payment from a broker.

She resigned as state treasurer after being arrested.

Shoffner is set to go to trial next month.
