Trails reopen after wildfire is extinguished

Posted: Updated:

HOT SPRINGS — Forest Service officials announced Friday that the Little Blakeley Trail system has reopened after a wildfire located near Lake Ouachita State Park was declared 100 percent contained.

The wildfire, which began 12 p.m., Jan. 24 burned approximately 2,000 acres.

"While we haven't determined the cause of the fire at this time, we want to remind people that Arkansas is going through a very dry period and that it is important that they follow the posted burn bans in their counties," said Jerry Soard,  Ouachita and Ozark-St. Francis National Forests Fire Team Leader.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
