Police Search for Suspect After Union Student Sexually Assaulted

Posted: Updated:

Detectives are working to locate a man this week accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old female on her way to school.

Officials with the Sex Crimes Unit told KTUL that the incident took place Wednesday around 7:45 a.m. This was in the area of 7200 S. 89th E. Ave.

According to a release from the Tulsa Police Department, the Union High School student was walking past an apartment complex and noticed a male walking nearby. As she continued toward the school she observed that he was following her.

"The suspect grabbed her from behind and forced her down into a retention area behind the shopping complex," the suspect described. "The suspect sexually assaulted the victim before releasing her."

Detectives told KTUL that the victim returned home and notified the police after the assault. Investigators are now looking for the black male described as being 16-18 years-old, 6 feet in height and average build with no facial hair.

At the time of the assault the victim told police that the man was wearing a gray hoodie jacket with lettering on it. He also had blue jeans and high top athletic shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS or text TIP918 to CRIMES.
