Video of car hitting three officers shown at Bryce Allen Trial

Posted: Updated:

(KATV)-A disturbing video was shown Wednesday in Pulaski County Court at the second degree murder trial of Bryce Allen, accused of driving his car into a Jacksonville police officer and two Jacksonville firefighters, killing of them, Donnie Jones. Allen is also being charged with two counts of attempted murder.

The defense is arguing Allen suffers from bipolar disorder.

The prosecution called witnesses today and also showed the dash camera video of a Jacksonville police officer, which showed a vehicle, alleged to be Allen's car barreling into the three men in 2012 at highway 161. Officers at the scene said Allen's mother was in a car accident and hit a gas line, that's when they reported Allen became angry with the road block and drove into the officers. Two of the men survived and testified in court Tuesday.

Many in the court are members of the Jacksonville Fire Department. David Jones, a spokesman for the department and of no relation to the victim, told Channel 7 News the video was difficult for many of them to see and wanted to remember the life of Donnie Jones.

"He was a good caring man, a loving father. He was a very good man, he'd give you the shirt of his back if you needed the help," said Jones.

Allen has also been charged in Ohio for driving a car into an officer outside of a hospital in Columbus. The officer, who did not sustain life threatening injuries testified in court against Allen.

The trial resumes Thursday at 9 a.m.
