Little Rock helping homeless during cold weather snap

Posted: Updated:

(KATV, Source: City of Little Rock) With temperatures expected to dip into single digits Monday night, the City of Little Rock is taking measures to protect some of the most vulnerable citizens.

"I have directed our homeless outreach vans to work extended hours Monday afternoon and evening," said Little Rock City Manager Bruce T. Moore. "The vans will run routes looking for anyone who needs a ride to a shelter. Our officers will also offer rides throughout the night to anyone who needs transportation. The City wants to ensure everyone can stay warm while temperatures are so cold."

Union Rescue Mission and the Compassion Center have indicated they both have dozens of beds available this evening and will remain open while temperatures are below freezing.
