LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - A juvenile reportedly suffered an accidental gunshot wound to his face Saturday night.

According to Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen, around 7:45 p.m.,  officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 4100 block of W. 17th Street and found a boy suffering from a gunshot wound to the side of his face.

Witnesses told police the boy was accidentally shot by one of his friends.  The shooter reportedly fled the scene before police arrived.

Lt. Allen said witnesses told officers the gun belonged to the victim, but his friend was playing with it when it accidentally went off and struck the boy.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.
