Woman dies in early morning house fire

JACKSONVILLE (KATV) - One woman is dead after a house fire in Jacksonville Saturday morning.

A Jacksonville Fire Department spokesman said around 6:20 a.m., firefighters responded to 417 S. Oak for reports of a house on fire. 

Firefighters saw flames shooting out of a bedroom window and entered the house to battle the blaze. Once inside, they found the room fully engulfed. 

After putting out the fire, responders found a woman dead in the bedroom.

Red Cross spokesperson Bridgett Wilson said a family of four lived at the residence. Red Cross is providing shelter for the surviving victims. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
