Man charged with six counts of rape

BENTON (KATV) - A Benton man is charged with six counts of rape. 

According to a statement from Benton Police Department spokesman Lt. Kevin Russell, detectives investigated a report of a rape involving a female victim and determined evidence indicated it had taken place.

Lt. Russell said after an extensive investigation, detectives arrested 29-year-old Franklin Lewis and charged him with six counts of rape and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Lt. Russell said the Lewis and the victim knew each other prior to the incident and additional charges could be possible as the investigation continues.

Lewis is being held on a $10,000 bond at the Saline County Detention Center.
