SHERWOOD (KATV) -- Police have released the name of the suspect shot by Sherwood Police during a domestic dispute call Wednesday morning.

The suspect involved in the incident is 62-year-old Crandle Hopson. According to Sherwood Police Crandle is currently in stable condition at a local hospital.

He is charged with aggravated assault on a family member and three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer.

The officer involved in the shooting is currently on paid administrative leave, which is a standard procedure during the continuing investigation. His name is not being released at this time.

Sherwood Police said early Wednesday morning it responded to an alcohol-related domestic dispute on Tenkiller Drive.

Officers say Hopson came to the door with two pistols in his hand, and one tucked into his waistband.

Hopson began pointing the weapons at police, and after multiple failed attempts to get him to drop the guns, an officer opened fire.

Channel Seven obtained a police report from 2011 that stated a similar incident occurred.

Hopson's wife, Gayla, told authorities that day they had gotten into a dispute over finances while they were both intoxicated.

She claimed to police that he got a handgun and placed it to her neck. Gayla Hopson then said he threatened to kill her then kill himself.

The investigation into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing.
