Searcy voters to decide tax increase proposal

SEARCY – Voters go to the polls in February to decide on a 1% sales tax increase.   If passed, the tax would sunset in 8 years.

According to the mayor's office Searcy has one of the lowest city tax rates in the state.

Nearly 42% of the tax, approximately $21 million, will go to streets and drainage, 29% or nearly $15 million will go to police and fire.

Early voting begins February 4th at the White County Clerk's office, and the election will be held on February 11th.   All voting locations will be open  on election day.
