Harding University plans memorial for murdered student

Posted: Updated:

SEARCY (KATV) - A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00pm for Lauren Bump. It'll be held at Fellowship Bible Church at 1921 W Beebe Capps Expy in Searcy.

Harding's president will be speaking, there'll be comments from friends offered, as well as a candlelight vigil.

A funeral for Bump was held on Thursday in Texas. Friends and family at the service say they remembered how loving she was and how much she will be missed.

A longtime neighbor talked about the last conversation she had with Bump on Christmas day.

"I said, 'every time I see you, you're more beautiful,' and she said, 'oh Mrs. Alice, thank you.' there was not a vain bone in her body. She will be missed. Missed by everybody, everybody in this church today."

After the service Bump was laid to rest at a private burial at an undisclosed location.

Bump was found stabbed to death in a San Antonio, Texas park on New Years Eve.

Police later arrested the man they say killed her.
