JONESBORO (AP) - New Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson has announced the hiring of Walt Bell as the Red Wolves' offensive coordinator.
Bell, who worked with Anderson as the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator at North Carolina the last two seasons, will also serve as Arkansas State's assistant head coach while coaching the quarterbacks.
Anderson, who was hired last month to replace Bryan Harsin, has worked with Bell for the last four seasons - both at North Carolina and Southern Mississippi.
Bell, a Tennessee native, called the offensive plays in North Carolina's Belk Bowl win over Cincinnati, a game that followed Anderson's hiring by the Red Wolves. The Tar Heels averaged 432.4 total yards per game this season, a year after ranking 14th nationally with an average of 485.6 yards per game.
