CONWAY (AP) - LaQuentin Miles and DeShone McClure scored 22 and 19 points as Central Arkansas powered past Houston Baptist 86-69 on Saturday.
McClure hit a 3-pointer that started a Central Arkansas breakaway, giving the Bears (4-9, 1-1 Southland Conference) the lead for good at 19-17. The contest saw four ties and five lead changes in the first 10 minutes. Miles, the reigning Southland player-of-the-week, scored eight in a 29-17 surge going into halftime and has led the Bears with a 22 ppg average since regaining academic eligibility five games ago.
Caleb Crayton led Houston Baptist (3-11, 0-2) with a season-high 20 points and Cody Joyce added 14 before being ejected. Huskies leading scorer Rob Lewis (12.2 ppg) was held in single digits for the second straight game, scoring only five.
Central Arkansas shot 50 percent from the field (33-65) with Tirrell Brown scoring 13 (with 11 rebounds) and Jalen Jackson 10 points.
