Oaklawn season of live racing just days away

HOT SPRINGS – Oaklawn's season of live horse racing begins Friday, January 10th with special promotions.  The 57 day racing season is capped off by the Racing Festival of the South and the Arkansas Derby. 

Racing takes place Thursday through Sunday, except on special Monday holidays.  Post time is 1:30 p.m. weekdays and Sundays and 1 pm Saturdays.  Special Monday racing on Jan. 20 and February 17 with a 1 p.m. post time. 

Special promotions include:

-Saturday, January 11 - $.50 Corned Beef Sandwiches and $.10 Soft Drinks;

-MLK Day, Monday, January 20 – Free Oaklawn Baseball Cap (with paid admission, while supplies last), $150,000 The Smarty Jones

-Presidents Day, Monday, February 17 - $55,000 Progressive Cash Giveaway, $300,000 the Southwest

-Saturday, March 15 – Boat & Truck Giveaway, $600,000 The Rebel

-Racing Festival of the South runs Saturday, April 5 – Saturday, April 12 and culminates with the $1 million Arkansas Derby.
