Police arrest suspects after two-state crime spree

BRINKLEY, Ark. (AP) - Authorities have arrested two men accused of a string of crimes including firing at north Mississippi police officers.

Arkansas State Troopers and a U.S. Marshal arrested 26-year-old Cody Eggmeyer and 33-year-old Michael Manis outside a motel in Brinkley, Ark., Saturday afternoon.

It's not clear if either of the men has a lawyer.

Arkansas officials added a new crime to the accusation list, saying the men committed an armed robbery in Helena-West Helena, Ark., on Thursday.

Authorities say the men tied up an Oakland, Miss., man and stole his truck and guns on Christmas. Mississippi authorities say they shot at police officers in Sardis and Batesville early Friday morning, burned the truck, and then forced a Panola County man to drive them to Horn Lake, just south of Memphis, Tenn.
