TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands (AP) - Neil Watson had 19 points and five assists on Saturday night to lead Southern Miss over Arkansas-Little Rock 74-60 in the championship of the BVI Tropical Shootout.
Watson was named the tournament MVP with 30 points and 13 assists in two games.
Southern Miss (11-2) scored six straight to close out the final 1:25 of the first half and go ahead 33-28 at the break.
After Will Neighbour scored the first basket of the second half for UALR, Southern Miss went on a 15-4 run to lead 48-34 with 13:13 left. Southern Miss led by no less than 12 the rest of the way and finished 14 of 23 (60.9 percent) from the field in the half.
Daveon Boardingham had 11 points for the Eagles and Michael Craig added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
James White led UALR (4-7) with 18 points and Neighbour added 12.
