VILNIUS, Lithuania, December 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Kickerpicker.com, a recently initiated Lithuanian social network for buying, selling and swapping things, has recruited Luca Gualco, vice president of global sales and marketing for world-renowned sports car manufacturer Ferrari. He has become one of the shareholders of Kickerpicker.com's holding company. Currently, L. Gualco is also a member of the Uber Technologies startup team, in which Google has invested 258m US dollars.
The businessman will be responsible for the international development of the project, starting with the US market. Mr. Gualco and Kickerpicker.com began cooperating some time ago, and Luca has made a significant contribution to the development of the project concept. He has earned an PhD from Stanford University, and one of the topics he researched in his dissertation was the exchange of items online. This experience allowed him to apply his theoretical knowledge in practice - developing this startup.
"I have been working on this project as a consultant for a while, but now I have decided to join the team in order to help navigate them into international waters. I can see that they are doing well in their home market of Lithuania, and I am sure that a project like this, a game changer for shopping habits, would also do well in the US. Expansion is my main objective for 2014," said Mr. Gualco.
"For us, the addition of a person like Luca is a really significant step forward. We believe that his knowledge, experience and contacts will greatly contribute to our expansion abroad. He was actively involved in attracting Google investment into the Uber Technologies startup. At the moment, we are talking with potential investors about an additional injection of funds for expansion overseas. So Mr. Gualco is a priceless resource, helping us open doors that would otherwise be hard to open from Lithuania," explained Donatas Juskus, the creator and one of the owners of the Kickerpicker.com project.
Kickerpicker.com is not a typical e-shop, but a place where people can buy, sell and exchange their things on a fun and interactive platform. Sellers are encouraged to give their wares a personal touch by uploading their photos, videos, and presenting them in other creative ways. This is how shopping departs from the process of simply clicking your mouse and placing products into your online shopping cart to become an enjoyable form of entertainment. The creators have invested 150 thousand US dollars into this project.
"Today's internet users are socially active and seek to maximise their enjoyment of images, faces and life on the internet. It is no coincidence that the most popular social networks of today are those that are predominantly composed of visual content - Pinterest, Instagram, and of course, Facebook. In our opinion, the era of commonplace e-stores is coming to an end. We can already observe the first signs of transformation towards social shopping. That's why we want to be one of the first to jump on the train with KickerPicker.com," said D. Juskus.
