Senate backs proposal to take second look at potential Purple Heart cases

 Senate lawmakers in Washington have backed a proposal that could lead to Purple Hearts being awarded to two soldiers who were shot outside a Little Rock recruiting office.

 The proposed National Defense Authorization Act has a section included that requires service Secretaries to review the incident here Little Rock as well as the shooting at Fort Hood, Texas and within six months determine if the victims were quote "killed or wounded as a result of an act of an enemy of the United States," that is a requirement to for the Purple Heart to be awarded. It was back in 2009 that Private William Long and Private Quinton Ezeagwula were shot outside the recruiting center. Private Long died from his injuries. Private Ezeagwula survived.
