VAN BUREN, Ark. (AP) - A jury found a woman guilty of second-degree murder for the slaying last year of a state highway worker at a highway rest area.

Jurors on Thursday found 59-year-old Patricia Hajek-McClure of Mulberry guilty of killing 54-year-old Sharon Sue Richards, who was working at the Arkansas Welcome Center in Van Buren along interstate 40.

Hajek-McClure was accused of shooting Richards when Richards went to check on her in her vehicle. A police investigator wrote in a report that Hajek-McClure said she thought Richards was "after her"

Richards died after being shot twice in the chest.

The Southwest Times Record reports (http://is.gd/e8tD5T ) jurors deliberated about five hours Thursday before reaching a verdict. Trial began last week but experienced a delay due to wintery weather.
