Ark. state employees allowed to report late

Posted: Updated:

JONESBORO (AP) - Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe is giving state employees an additional two hours to report to work Monday while officials at Arkansas State University and with the Little Rock School District say both will be closed following winter storms in Arkansas.

ASU Chancellor Tim Hudson says university officials believe it remains too hazardous to reopen the Jonesboro campus Monday because of icy roads. The campus is expected to reopen on Tuesday. ASU closed on Friday as the storms moved across the region. Finals scheduled for Friday and Monday will be given on Wednesday and Thursday instead.

Little Rock schools spokeswoman Pamela Smith says the school's offices will be open, but no classes.

The City of Little Rock plans to open city offices at noon Monday.
