PINE BLUFF (KATV) - One suspect is shot and three more are arrested after an armed robbery Friday evening.

In a statement, Pine Bluff Police Department spokesman Lt. David Price said officers in a robbery task force unit saw three suspects attempt to rob Family Dollar on the 3000 block of W. 28th Street around 5:20 p.m.

As the suspects exited the building, Lt. Price said officers confronted the suspects and 23-year-old Samuel Freeman pointed a weapon at them.

Lt. Price said one officer shot Freeman and two other suspects ran from the scene.

After conducting an extensive ground search, police arrested 20-year-old Jerome Pridgeon and 20-year-old Jeffery Freeman. 22-year-old Robert Jordan was also taken into custody as an accomplice.

Samuel Freeman was taken to a Pine Bluff hospital for treatment.

The suspects are believed to be connected to a string of robberies in the area over the past two weeks.
