Highway officials to provide info on wintry travel

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas highway officials are encouraging drivers to check for wintry travel conditions before they hit the roads this week.

The State Highway and Transportation Department says its website, IDriveArkansas.com, has information about icy road conditions, current traffic flow and construction zones.

The agency says driving isn't recommended during winter storm events, but it says people who have to get behind the wheel should avoid using cruise control or overdrive on icy or wet roads.

Forecasters are predicting snow, sleet and freezing rain in parts of Arkansas on Thursday and Friday.
