Prosecutors in Faulkner County will not seek death penalty against teen

Posted: Updated:

Prosecutors will not seek the death penalty in the capital murder case of Sierra Cook, one of two defendants charged with the offense in connection with the fatal Father's Day double-shooting at a Conway motel.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Carol Crews informed Faulkner County Circuit Judge Mike Maggio of the prosecution's decision Monday morning during Cook's hearing. Crews said the prosecution was officially waiving its right to pursue the death penalty in the case.

The decision comes a little more than one month after Faulkner County prosecutors informed the court Oct. 30 that the prosecution would seek the death penalty in its case against 27-year-old Lee Andrew Foster, also charged with capital murder in the shooting.
