Rodeny Lee Evans, in handcuffs following an extensive police chase that started Monday morning in Tarrant and ended here on I-59 northbound near 31st Street.

Tarrant Police Chief, Dennis Reno, says  "He got to the 31st exit, the cars stopped, he started ramming vehicles."

The officers spotted the vehicle in the Taco Bell parking lot."

That's when a chase began. He lost Tarrant police.. but was spotted again in Gardendale.  The chase picked up again and he eventually headed to Jefferson county.. where several agencies were waiting. Reno says "As the vehicle approached Zion City Road, we attempted to put spike strips out and he attempted to run over one of our police officers."

He then led officers South on I-59.. South on I-65.. then North on I-65 and I-59 Northbound. Chief Reno says, "When the guy started trying to ram vehicles and run them off the road, we made a decision to use a pit maneuver on the vehicle to disable it.

Evans jumped over an interstate barrier and tried to enter an 18-wheeler.. when he was finally caught.

Evans faces numerous charges in several areas, including possession of cocaine and receiving stolen property in Tarrant. Police say the vehicle he was driving was stolen in Leeds. Chief Reno says Evans has an extensive criminal history.
