Fans Brave Cold Weather for ESPN College Gameday in Stillwater

Posted: Updated:
Thousands of football fans showed up for ESPN College Gameday in Stillwater Saturday. The special previewed No. 11 Oklahoma State vs. No. 3 Baylor. Despite the cold weather, many fans brought signs and spirit to the set in front of Edmon Low Library on OSU's campus.

"Gameday only comes around here once in a great while. You've got to get up. It doesn't matter what the temperature is. You have to come out here and see it," said Oklahoma City resident Amy Lazarus.

This is the fourth time Stillwater has hosted the popular sports show. The last time the show aired there was Bedlam 2010. In fact, this is the first time the special is not showcasing an OSU game against OU.

"Oh man, this is a fantastic event for the community. Just the fact there's a lot of people here. There's a lot of draw. The fact that the game's at 7:00 tonight so the people in the community all this time, it's fantastic," said Stillwater resident Lorne Parker.

Some local businesses echoed that excitement. The TV special completed filming in the morning, which means many fans spent the rest of the day in Stillwater.

"I definitely do. I mean, especially with ESPN College Gameday being here, but also it's just a huge game. So, we're going to have lots of people here," said Coney Island worker Colin McCreary.

Channel 8 is airing a pre-game special on the OSU/Baylor match-up at 6 p.m.
