Grandfather Shoots Grandson and Another in Burglary

Posted: Updated:
A man shot two juveniles after they allegedly broke into his home, early Friday morning.

Both of the teenagers were shot in the lower leg area and transported to a local hospital, but they are expected to be fine. Investigators say this isn't the first time they've been to this house.

Justin Farley with the Tulsa Police Department stated that 69-year-old Richard Ward has been the victim of several burglaries.

Ward owns several business in the area and his family lives near by. According to family members who wish to remain anonymous, Ward is a nice man, but was tired of people breaking into his home.

Police say Ward knew who he was shooting. Ward's family said he thought it was his grandson that was breaking into his home and had taken a gun and some money. Police say the grandson has stayed at his home on and off for the past six  months.

Ward was taken into custody this afternoon for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The juveniles, 13 and 14-years-old, have since been arrested for burglary and breaking and entering.
