TUSCALOOSA COUNTY - AL -

The Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit is taking a closer look at the murder of a woman in 1982.

On April 18, 1982, an unidentified woman was found dead on the bank of Black Warrior River in Romulus. She had been strangled to death. This female is described as a white female, 34-38 years old, 5'4 tall and weighs 110-115 pounds. She had brown hair, a somewhat ruddy complexion and a scar over his right eye below her eyebrow. A partial upper denture was in place. The unidentified woman was dressed in sneakers (size 7), blue knit pants with a stretch waistband, long-sleeved blue shirt. The female was never positively identified and no suspect has been charged with her death. She was later buried by the county.

Today, investigators are exhuming her body to try to collect DNA, which they hope could lead to her identification. The Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit has made a commitment to review older cases and try to bring closure to those families.
