TULSA, Okla. (AP) - University of Tulsa running back Trey Watts has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the Burlsworth Trophy.
The Burlsworth Trophy is named after former University of Arkansas walk-on Brandon Burlsworth and is given to the most outstanding collegiate football player who began his career as a walk-on.
Burlsworth walked on at Arkansas in 1994 before becoming a three-year starter and earning All-America honors in 1998. He was drafted by the NFL's Indianapolis Colts but was killed in an auto accident 11 days after the draft.
Watts is second in Conference USA in rushing with 1,026 yards and has now rushed for more than 1,000 for two straight seasons.
