"Shotz" bar gets hearing before ABC Board

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK – A drinking establishment that has drawn controversy before its planned opening in the River Market has a hearing before the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board on November 20.

Shotz already operates a bar in Fayetteville, and it wants to bring its trademark "Ice" shot glasses, thrown on the ground when empty, to Little Rock.  Problem is, some city leaders are afraid the Shotz business model won't fit in well with River Market patrons.

The River Market District Neighborhood Association said earlier this year, it's not the kind of business that "blends well with the cultural and tourist activities that exist here".

City Manager Bruce Moore agrees saying he is urging the ABC to deny Shotz a private club license.
