Benton residents await results of elections

BENTON (KATV) - A community organization in Benton held a watch party Tuesday night as election results rolled in. GoBenton held the event at the Benton Event Center.
 
There were four separate ballot initiatives in the city election:

* Issue One will continue the city's current 1.5-cent sales tax that funds the majority of city operations.
* Issue Two will add a 1/2-cent sales tax for improvements in public safety.
* Issue Three will add a 1/2-cent sales tax for a major economic development project called the Riverside Park, which includes the development of a new Boys & Girls Club, a new Senior Wellness Center, a large special events building called The River Center, and a new Girls Softball Complex.
* Issue Four authorizes the bonds necessary to fund the projects within Issue Three.
