Jefferson Co Jail using new online video visitation

Posted: Updated:

PINE BLUFF – The Jefferson County Jail and Juvenile Detention Center is using a new online video visitation system that will allow an inmate's family expanded visitation, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Sheriff Gerald Robinson announced the HomeWAV system, installed this summer, as the "wave of the future".   The visitation stations use a telephone handset, keypad, webcam, PC and monitor set up in day rooms for the inmates.   For an inmate's family the process works like a phone call, except that  a computer with a webcam and Internet access is required.

There will be live monitoring and recording of all calls.

Sheriff Robinson says the HomeWAV system will increase safety and security at the jail and juvenile center.
