Arkansas to release school accountability report

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas Education Department is preparing to release an annual report that's designed to hold schools accountable.

The agency has a Tuesday afternoon news conference scheduled to discuss the results.

Last year, only a third of Arkansas public schools rated as "exemplary" or "achieving." The rest were told they need to make improvements so students better learn math, reading and other skills.

Last year, 19 schools earned the highest rating of "exemplary."
