WASHINGTON COUNTY (KATV) - Two people were killed in a plane crash in Northwest Arkansas Friday night.

Washington County Sheriff's Department said Searcy Harrell, 72, and Ruth Ann Hudson, 71, were killed when their plane crashed around 6:00 p.m.

Air traffic controllers told KHBS/KHOG Harrell reported he was running out of fuel and wouldn't be able to make it to the airport in Bentonville.

Controllers advised the pilot to land at the Springdale airport and he told them he couldn't make it there either. The plane crashed two miles from the Springdale airport.

The sheriff's department said the bodies were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for autopsies.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the accident and said the plane was a twin-engine Beechcraft C90. The aircraft was registered to an aviation company in Camden.

A caller to 911 gave the first report of the crash at 5:46 p.m. Friday.
