A Birmingham shooting is now a homicide investigation. On Wednesday, October 23rd, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Birmingham Police were called to the 900 block of 46th Street North. Officers found a vehicle that struck a power pole. Inside was 38 year old Maurice Lee, of Birmingham. He told officers that he was on his way to buy a pound of marijuana when he was shot in the back of the head. Lee was transported to UAB Hospital where he underwent surgery and remained on life support until Wednesday, October 30th, when he was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
Investigators determined that the vehicle Lee was driving was stolen in Huntsville in January. No arrests have been made in the case.
