Posted: Updated:

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - The Hot Springs National Park's ranger division has added a 2-year-old German Shepard to its law enforcement efforts.

The dog Saki and his handler - Ranger Clint Forte - will patrol the park to help in the detection of controlled substances and as part of routine patrol duties. Chief Ranger John Hughes says Saki is trained in detecting narcotics, tracking and apprehending suspects, searching buildings and locating evidence.

Hughes says the dog will also be used in public demonstrations, exhibitions and special events.
